Sent

Most people long for a life directed by a mission. If only we had special orders, a divine commission, a unique task, a clear calling, our lives would become filled with purpose and meaning. Jesus led the most purpose-driven life that has ever been lived. It filled His every thought, and fueled His every step. He often spoke of being "sent." Phrases such as "The Father has sent me" and "Him who sent me," and the deep sense of purpose and mission that entailed, flowed from the lips of Jesus more than 30 times in the gospel of John alone. And then, just before His crucifixion, Jesus delivers these staggering words: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you” (John 20:21). The very mission and purpose of Jesus, the most significant life that has ever lived, has been passed on: To us. In this series, James Emery White explores the life-changing idea of "Sent" - what it means, what it holds and how it can be fulfilled.
