One of the primary ways that Hinduism has crept into our culture is through the practice of yoga. It is worth your time to go back and listen to a past Church & Culture podcast on this topic: CCP22: On Yoga. Tied closely to yoga is the idea of meditation, which is vastly different from forms of Christian meditation. Check out an article in Religion News Service titled “How Americans Came to Embrace Meditation and, with It, Hinduism.”
And then many people are drawn to Buddhism and its ideals because of the number of celebrities who embrace this Eastern religion. You might be interested in checking out the “List of Celebrity Buddhists” HERE. Something that makes this religion easier to embrace is that you don’t have to try to accept your own sin. Finally, for more on Christianity and how it compares to the religions of the world, Dr. White delivered a six-week series at Mecklenburg Community Church called “So What’s the Difference.”
